AFRIKANATION ART EXCHANGE EXHIBITION/EBONY's GOING AWAY PARTY
Friday, July 17th, 2009 • 6p - 10p • Coffee With a Beat • 458 Perkins Ave., Oakland, CA

Please come out and celebrate the work of 12 dynamic artists who participated in my final thesis project entitled Afrikanation Interactive Art Exchange. The point of this project was to unify all people of African decent and supporters in order to join minds and create solutions to common problems through art. These collaborations took place around the topics of Family and Traditions as well as Goals and Dreams. This combination of musicians, painters, poets, and video production artists truly formed a rich experience that we would like to share with you. Please invite your family and friends.

PAN-AFRICAN POTLUCK! • NOVEMBER 16th, 2009

This event was an invitation for people to come and share their artwork, food and music with the community and around 70 people showed up! There were 4 live performances including provocative music from Anna Whitehead and the bass clarinet and spoken word duo Positive Knowledge, and poetry that left us thinking long after they sat down by Antoinette Cooper and Knosis.

There were 13 visual artists who shared and discussed their work including 3 out of state artists by the name of Andre Johnson, Siraj, and Rico Young, who were available via satellite. Nate Smith Sr., owner of Coffee With A Beat, so generously donated his space and the Oakland Post kindly wrote an article advertising for it. This video was edited by Tatek Kassaye who truly captured its essence - Thank you Tatek! This truly was a community created success because everyone pitched in from bringing chairs and tables to passing out flyers and donating computers! It was truly an amazing site how everyone pulled together for a cause. To share.
